In the heroes journey, courage is a must-have. One cant just leave everything behind and go fight monsters is they aren't courageous. This trait was most evident in the Epic Beowulf, which we read in class this week. In the poem the hero was made to look invincible, Beowulf could do things no one else could. When someone had an issue he was the one they called upon. It makes me wonder if I could handle pressure like that, or if it takes a special kind of personality to be able to do and see those things and not let them phase you or change you at all. I feel as it that would be one of the most difficult aspects of being a hero. There's also having to deal with the consequences if you couldn't save a person.
Other than that it was a pretty average week as far as english class goes. The actual teacher of the class came back (his girlfriend had a baby so he was gone for 6 weeks). It seems that now hes back that we are gonna be reading out of these huge purple books now which I am not looking forward to. But hey, hes the teacher for a reason right? Although Im really not a fan of reading out of the books, the way we read Beowulf was pretty cool. So I guess if we do all the reading out of the book like that, this class shouldn't be to bad!
